What do you really NEED EDC for?

What do YOU really need EDC for? Well, you saw the title. Its a simple, but annoying question - taking time to take a hard look at your kit and see if you really need said item.  As fun as it is to have a massive array of the latest gadgets, weight and space constraints soon will rear themselves in objection, and sooner or later you may find yourself leaving pieces of kit behind.  For example, as much as I enjoyed the Mora Eldris, I found that the shear bulk of the small fixed blade was uncomfortable to carry daily, and I loathed taking it around daily in a jean pocket carry.   The Mercator K55K solved literally of my problems with the Mora.
